Classic Cakes and Catering

DO NOT HIRE CHEF NEWAL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT HIRE CLASSIC CAKES AND CATERING!!!!!IF IT WAS NOT FOR OUR WEDDING PLANNER THE CATERING WOULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER!!!!We contracted Chef a1.5 years before our wedding with plenty of time to get everything ready. When we first started working with him we work with one of his assistants, which was awesome ,then she got let go…then he hired another….then she was no longer there. Finally we dealt directly with Chef and let me tell you his response time is very very bad. His excuse… his kids. NOW LETS GET TO THE WEDDING DAY… We paid for 3 servers to serve behind the buffet line. We discussed serving the buffet we told him that if we released the guests by table, that would make it easier for them to serve from behind the buffet tables. Not only did they not serve, Chef Newal himself disappeared and we didn't see him again until around 9pm when he had his crew (of 2) shut down. They ran out of sausage before everyone was even served, they ran out of plates and when we asked the lady who was left she was very curt and short with us and simply replied that she would take care of it. At one point, we had run out of chicken and staff member of the venue ..NOT CHEF’s staff ..had to go back in the kitchen and pull another tray of chicken from their warmers! The Chef finally showed back up just before 9:00 and the wedding planner mentioned to him that we ran out of plates and sausage. He said he brought enough plates for 100 guests, but sometimes people would use 2-3 plates, but he only brought enough for each person to have one plate because it cost him money to provide extra plates. Then he added that he only brought 20 lbs. of sausage and he tried to slice it thin enough so that everyone would get a piece. (a piece????!!) WE ONLY HAD 84 OUT OF 100 PEOPLE SHOW UP! At 9pm, we noticed the bartender was gone so the wedding planner started looking for him. She found Chef Newal, the lady and the bartender all standing out in the parking lot so she went outside and asked them what was up. Chef Newal said he only contracted for 4 hours and I said 'it's only 9:00, what time were you supposed to leave?' He kept saying he was only contracted for 4 hours and she finally said 'From what time until what time were you supposed to be here? He said, Well, I got here at 5:00; so from 5-9. She said, the wedding ceremony didn't even start until 6:45!! The reception was to start at 7pm and run until 11:00, you're just going to leave them to serve themselves? He said ' well, they kept cutting back on everything trying to save money and they only paid for four hours.' He also added that he couldn't stay out of the goodness of his heart, that it cost him money too. (so he counted his arrival time and set-up time as part of his contracted time) WHICH IS BS!!!? THE BARTENDER LEFT OPEN BOTTLES OF LIQUOR AROUND WITH CHILDREN AND MINOR PRESENT!!! HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE TABC LICENSED!! She said, does the bride and groom know this? He said yes and she said, OK, I just want to make sure that you discussed this with bride and groom and that they are aware of this.. WE DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS!!!! At that point the wedding planner went back inside to let her girls know that the bartender/caterer had left and they had to jump in and help serve drinks. PLUS MY GUEST HAD TO SERVE THERE OWN DRINKS!!All in all , Chef did NOT care about our wedding, he cut ever corner possible and straight lied to us and the wedding planner !!! I sent him an email he did not reply to, THEN WHEN I CALLED HIM HE HONSETLY TOLD ME ……”JUST GET ON WITH YOUR LIFE!!!” HE DID NOTHING TO MAKE THIS RIGHT!! DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!! YOU WILL REGRET IT!!

did not go with them, a little too pricy for me. but i also had a 70 dollar budget haha

I cannot express to you how amazing our wedding cake was! Everyone fell in love with its appearance and taste. I was very happy with how our cakes turned out and how delicious they turned out to be. I had a small idea of what I wanted and Chef Newal was so patient and helpful in helping me design my cake. He never pressured me into anything and was really sweet. The cake was just gorgeous. It was simple, elegant, and everything we wanted. Chef Newal is very creative and very reliable. Our cake was beautiful, was delivered without any problem and tasted wonderful!! He was also very honest with how much we should order. His prices are afforable and so amazing for what you get. We tried several cake tastings before we came to him and the taste and price are what made us book him. He is also a blast to work with and is very funny. He is there for YOU and wants what you want. He will tell you what can work and not work. We will be using their services again in the future. Thank you so much.

My wedding was May 9, 2009. I was recommended to Classic Cakes and Catering by a friend in March after having difficulty with my previously selected caterer. I only had 2 months to pull everything together and a limited budget. Chef Newal was great! He took care of all of my catering needs, including linen, serviceware, waitstaff and bartender. He also decorated the most beautiful and delicious wedding cake. My husband even raved about the experience and his groom's cake. I strongly recommend Classic Cakes and Catering, not only for great service, but great food and extraodinary cakes for a reasonable price. They really pay attention to the detail and the Bride is always right!

Our cake was a bit expensive, but it received many compliments from guests, everyone loved it. My wife was very pleased, which made me very very pleased!

oh....mi...god..... the wedding cake was soooo good! My husband Todd was laughing at me afterwards; he said that my eyes were bugging out of my head when he fed me that first piece of the wedding cake. It was soooo good, I couldn't believe it. It was sweet, but not too sweet, and had such a rich flavor to it. Really special place; you can't go wrong with Classic Cakes!

Classic Cakes and Catering was Exceptional. This company is one I would highly recommend. They were very professional. Most of all the food was AWESOME. The display of the food was beautiful. The cake was better than great. The Chef Newel was amazing. I told him what I was trying to capture and he brought it to life. He displayed my dreams. After the wedding I received so many calls about how beautiful everthing was and how great the food was. It has been one year ago and I'm still getting calls from friends wanting the company's number. We just had the company do my parents 50th wedding anniversary. Another job well done. Classic Cakes and Catering is truly FIVE STAR.

Chef Newal went above and beyond to ensure that my husband and I provided our guests with some of the best food we've ever tasted. The staff were exceptionally attentive. I will recommend him to all my friends and acquaintances. Sheryl Eaton
